NX early reveal was to "reinforce commitment to dedicated hardware"!

According to Nintendo of Americas Executive VP of Sales, "Scott Moffitt", Nintendo's early reveal of their new platform was to reinforce Nintendo's commitment to dedicated hardware, aka games consoles.

There has been a bit of worry among the fan base that Nintendo was pulling away from consoles to focus on capitalising on the popularity of mobile gaming, now of course most of us assumed this to be a ridiculous notion but that did not quell the paranoia. Well we learned in the last 24 hours the truth, as explained below by Scott Moffitt:

Going back to the reveal, it was important for us to reinforce to our loyal game fans out there that we remain committed to the world of dedicated game platforms.
We believe there is magic that occurs when you have a marriage between the hardware, operating system and game content itself. It was important for us to recommit, on behalf of our game fans, to that business. We didn't want people to think we were migrating away from that core principle, which is we believe in the power of dedicate game platforms and we are going to remain in that business.
We can't deny the massive install base of smartphones out there, and some fans that aren't old enough yet to afford their own gaming console, perhaps for those consumers they can start to appreciate some of our content and build a relationship with some of our characters and our franchises. We feel it's going to be an additive to our console business.
We don't want it to be a substitute for the kind of game experience you can get and that's why we announced it at that time.
Normally, we wouldn't have taken that step of telling people we are working on the next system, but we wanted people to know we remain committed to the dedicated game device business.
Judging by our stock price, the [reaction] was very enthusiastic, but our game fans were also very enthusiastic. People also respected the fact that we remain committed to making rich, deep experiences that they can enjoy in their living room.
[Mobile and console] are two different types of gaming experiences and I don't think the approach we'll take is to just port existing content over to the mobile. That really wouldn't be doing justice to those devices and to that experience, it's a different kind of gameplay.
Well, hopefully that puts an end to all the speculation!

Square Enix say "Dragon Quest X/XI" NOT confirmed for NX

According to reports across the gaming web, Square Enix have reportedly released a statement in which they "CORRECT" earlier reports which stated that the next two instalments of Dragon Quest would get a release on Ninty's new system.

The statement mentions that the two games release on the NX, was only "under consideration" and that it was in no way confirmed!

Original Quote (http://nintendoenthusiast.com/):
Our press release contained the official statement that had been originally planned, and there is no reason to believe any changes were made mid-way to the content of the official announcement. The comment made during the event was not based on the official statement, so please allow us to correct our statement at this moment. We regret any confusion this may have caused.

Now, what does this mean then, well lets look at the facts... Its fair to say that the announcement by Square Enix came as a surprise to everybody. Whilst Nintendo confirmed NX as a platform they did not officially announce it as a successor to the ill-fated Wii U... Why is this relevant? Well its pretty obvious, Square Enix initial statement implied that NX WAS a new console.

This all means that this partial retraction from the Japanese company was probably due to a few words from Nintendo, letting them know they got a little ahead of themselves.

Of course they could also have just made a genuine mistake.... but Im inclined to believe it is because of theory number one.... what do you guys think!

Anyway sit back and well keep you up to date with the latest stories surrounding this mysteriouse new creation.
